St Ives Surf School

St Ives Surf School is a surf school and watersports centre on two beaches in St Ives, west Cornwall: its headquarters are on Blue Flag Porthmeor Beach and its watersports centre is on Porthminster Beach, on the harbour side. The team has fourteen people, all lifeguard trained, including some national surf champions.

Surf lessons, at Porthmeor, come in five levels, from total beginners catching their first waves in shallow water to surfers paddling out the back and riding unbroken green waves. At Porthminster the centre runs stand up paddleboard lessons and guided tours in the sheltered waters of St Ives Bay, sea kayak tours and coasteering.

The school also hires out surfboards (softboards, shortboards, longboards, mid-lengths), bodyboards, wetsuits, paddleboards and kayaks, with secure changing rooms, and sells clothing and accessories in its online shop.

The Porthminster watersports centre (paddleboards and kayaks) operates from May to October, weather permitting.
