L'académie de surf et loisirs

L'académie de surf et loisirs has been based on Jack Beach, at Dar Bouazza, some twenty kilometres from Casablanca, since 2004. It teaches surfing, longboarding, bodyboarding and stand-up paddleboarding to children from the age of five and to adults, and keeps its own equipment and a rest area on site for its pupils.

The school, also known as Dar Bouazza Surf Club, is affiliated to the Royal Moroccan Federation of Surfing and Bodyboarding, which lets it enter federal competitions; it also runs its own tandem surf, longboard, shortboard and bodyboard events at the end of each term, with a season ranking. The surf section has run throughout the week since 2008-2009, after starting out on Saturday afternoons only. The team is led by Kamal, coach and founder, alongside a head of instruction and a group of coaches.

Lessons last a full two hours in the water and their times follow the tides, so they change from one day to the next; booking is required. The school describes the spots it uses around its base: Jack Beach, Petit Port for intermediate surfers, and the Oued Merzeg bay, which works all year and is at its best in winter. Dedicated packages for schools are also offered.

No fixed timetable is published: sessions follow the tides and therefore change every day. Booking is required. The school runs all year, with intensive courses in July and August.
