Explora Watersports

A watersports school set right on the kite spot of Essaouira bay, on Boulevard Mohammed V, running for about ten years. It teaches and rents kitesurfing, wingfoiling, windsurfing, surfing and stand up paddle, from complete beginner to advanced rider, in group, semi-private or private lessons. Instructors are accredited by the International Kiteboarding Organization (IKO), and the beginner path is set out in four published stages: kite control on the beach, body dragging, water start, then riding upwind and first jumps.

The centre is as much a place to hang out as a school: the Brunch & Co café, a kite shop, showers, lockers, a kids' space, parking, a photo and video service, and a surf house in Essaouira to put students up. The rental fleet is advertised as Duotone — Neo, Dice, Rebel, Evo and Vegas kites, Jaime and Team Series twin-tips, wave boards and foils — with secure storage for your own gear, a supervised launch and landing area and a rescue boat. The school also runs downwinders and trips along the coast around Essaouira.

Explora sells kitesurf holiday packages bundling lessons, accommodation and airport transfers, and runs fixed kite and surf camps and clinics throughout the year. It is ranked first of the sixty watersports operators in Essaouira on TripAdvisor, with a 2023 Travelers' Choice award and close to 1,300 reviews, and it was a partner of the MOGA Essaouira festival in October 2026. Its medina shop, the Explora Surf & Kite Shop on Avenue Istiqlal, is a separate address from the beach base.

The school publishes no opening hours on its site. It advertises kitesurf and surf camps and clinics throughout the year, and answers enquiries within 24 to 48 hours.
