XcelSurf Dakhla is a surf school based in Dakhla, on the Atlantic coast of the Moroccan Sahara. It teaches surfing and nothing else — no kitesurfing, no wingfoiling. Students are driven by 4×4 to the waves of the peninsula: Oum Labouir, the school's home point, Lasarga where the ocean meets the lagoon, and Aarish / N'Tireft, a hidden right-hander in a traditional fishing village below the cliffs.
Lessons run two hours and come as private, semi-private or group sessions with two to five students per instructor, from complete beginners — children from the age of three — to experienced surfers. Board, leash, wetsuit, coaching and pick-up from your hotel or camp are included. Soft boards, hard boards and 4/3 wetsuits are also rented separately by the half-day, day or week, and the school runs guided surf trips covering several spots in a day.
It also sells an all-inclusive eight-day, seven-night surf camp for beginners, hosted at the Dar Tawarta eco-lodge: four surfing days including two surf trips to Aarish and Lasarga, full board, 4×4 airport transfers, video and debrief after every session, an excursion to the White Dune and the hot spring, a boat-fishing, diving or quad outing, and two evenings with a live band and DJ.
