Windsurf Station Premantura

Windsurf Station is a small family-run centre presented as one of the first windsurfing centres in Istria. It is located inside the Rt Kamenjak nature reserve (Školjić beach) in Premantura, at the southern tip of Istria, about 10 km south of Pula. Školjić bay is sheltered from much of the swell and serves as the beginner water; according to the website, the coast protects from waves in 70% of wind directions, there are no dangerous currents and a rescue boat is on hand.

Instructors are VÖWS-certified with more than 15 years of teaching experience, and lessons are given in German, Italian, English, Slovenian and Croatian. Windsurf courses include a 2-hour test course, a 6-hour basic course, private lessons, a 5-hour advanced course (fast tack, jibe, beach start) and a "fun" course (footstraps, planing jibe). The centre has added wingfoil, wake foil and e-foil courses.

Rental covers beginner gear (dacron sails 1.5-5.5 m², boards 150-220 litres), intermediate and pro gear (monofilm sails 6.2-7.5 m², boards 105-155 litres) reserved for experienced windsurfers; no equipment is rented above 25 knots. The centre also offers kayaks, SUP, paddle boats and bikes; kayak excursions are run by its sister company Istra Kayak. Car entry into the reserve is charged (EUR 11 per car according to the website), free on foot or by bike.
