Lenzerheide Wassersportcenter

Lenzerheide Wassersportcenter is the water sports base on the Heidsee (Igl Lai in Romansh), a mountain lake at 1,500 m between Valbella and Lenzerheide in the canton of Graubünden. It is owned and run by the municipality of Vaz/Obervaz and has occupied a lakeside building since 2015, next to the Lido, with a lounge terrace (Sunset Lounge) and a free beach volleyball court. According to the centre, the lake warms up to over 20 °C in summer and gets thermal breezes of 3 to 5 Beaufort. Kitesurfing is neither taught nor offered here; among wing-powered board sports, the centre teaches wing foiling.

The beginner wing foil course runs over four afternoons (8 hours): wing handling, safety and some physics on day one, riding a board with a centreboard on day two, moving to a foil board on day three and first flights on day four. Teaching takes place in standing-depth water sheltered from chop, in groups of up to four students aged 13 and over. The same programme is also run over a weekend, in two blocks (beginner, then improver). Private 90-minute lessons are available in wing foiling, windsurfing, sailing and SUP. The windsurfing school is recognised by SWAV (the Swiss windsurfing association); during the summer holidays, group windsurfing and sailing courses (Optimist, Laser Pico) are run for children, teenagers and adults by trained instructors.

The centre rents out Duotone wing foil gear, Duotone and Patrik windsurf equipment (beginner, funboard and foil), dinghies and a small catamaran, SUPs, kayaks, pedal boats and a rowing boat. Wing foil, windsurf and sailing gear is only rented to people with the required skills: a 30-minute introduction is compulsory before first renting wing foil gear or a boat. Tailored packages are available for companies, school classes and groups.
