Kau Kau Club

Kau Kau Club is a water sports school in Fiumaretta di Ameglia (province of La Spezia), on the border between Liguria and Tuscany. Founded in 1999 as the first windsurf school in Liguria, it has added surfing, kitesurfing, wing foiling and stand up paddle. It is also a surf club and a FISSW federal school recognised by CONI.

The school sits on Fiumaretta beach near the mouth of the Magra river, below the Magra nature park and Montemarcello. An access channel lets riders enter and leave the sea safely during the bathing season, and the north-westerly wind, boosted by the thermal effect, blows regularly. It is based in the Arcobaleno beach establishment, with changing rooms, showers, lockers and a chill-out area.

Lessons in windsurfing (three levels), wing foil (basic and advanced, the latter by boat offshore), kitesurfing, surfing and SUP (sometimes combined with yoga or pilates, with trips along the coast) are given by instructors holding FIV and CSEN certifications. Equipment is provided (RRD, Duotone and Fanatic brands). The school also runs multisport camps for children and adults and snow trips.

Windsurf and wing foil lessons every day from 11:00 to 17:00 (when the mistral and thermal wind blow). Open all year. Lessons are reserved for members (annual card EUR 10, insurance included).
