Amigos do Oceano Surf School

Amigos do Oceano is a surf school and ecological centre on Avenida João Corte Real at Praia da Barra (Gafanha da Nazaré, municipality of Ílhavo, near Aveiro), less than a minute from the beach. It is run by Companhia do Sol, registered as a tourist activity operator (RNAAT 1125/2017), as part of the Tribo do Sol Surfshop project.

The school teaches surf, bodyboard and stand-up paddle, in small groups or private lessons, with instructors certified by the Portuguese Surfing Federation. Lessons are organised by level (beginner, intermediate, improvement); SUP sessions take place on the calm waters of the Ria de Aveiro. All equipment is included in the lessons.

It also offers lessons for children from age 7, summer holiday camps, group activities, equipment rental (softboards, epoxy boards, malibus, wetsuits) and environmental education activities (talks, beach clean-ups). The school says it is open all year.

Tuesday to Friday 9:30 am-12:30 pm and 2:30-4:30 pm; Saturday and Sunday 9:30 am-1 pm; closed Monday (public listing, to be confirmed by phone).
