Brian Sensations

Brian Sensations is a mobile kitesurfing, wing foiling and foiling school based in Le Barcarès, teaching on the lagoons and beaches around Leucate. Its founder, nicknamed "Brian" since he arrived in Leucate in 2013, first opened a paddleboard school, Brian SUP Session, in 2017. After earning the French DEJEPS diploma in water-based kite sports at the CREPS in Montpellier, he extended the business to kitesurfing and foiling, while also teaching kitesurfing for the Surf&Kite school in 2019 and 2020.

The school has no fixed centre: the spot is chosen according to the wind and the students' level. Beginners learn on the Étang de La Palme, shallow throughout, where the wind blows back towards the beach, or at Saint-Laurent-de-la-Salanque, a quieter spot with a slightly cross-onshore wind. La Franqui, where the wind blows offshore, and the Parc des Dosses in Le Barcarès are for experienced riders only, La Franqui solely in supervised sessions.

Lessons are for two students per instructor, or three to four for a group of friends or family, in French, English or Spanish, from age 7. Equipment is provided (wetsuit, harness, booties, helmet, vest, kite or wing and board), Naish for kitesurfing and North for wing foiling. The school also offers coaching, supervised riding with radio, kitefoiling, boat-towed sessions (twin-tip, strapless or foil), tandem kite rides, a weekly women-only coaching session, paddleboard rental and guided paddle tours. It is affiliated with the French kite association AFKite; a licence and third-party liability insurance are required.
