ID Kite is a kitesurfing and wing foil school based at Pont-Levis in Sète, on the Étang de Thau lagoon. It was founded by Ivanie Delmas, who holds the French BPJEPS instructor diploma in kite sports from CREPS Montpellier and teaches the lessons herself. The school is affiliated with the FFVL and gives each student a kitepass to record their progress.
Kitesurfing lessons take place in the shallow water at Pont-Levis, in groups of two or three students at most, as a pair or one-to-one. Each student wears an individual radio helmet and a support boat covers the sessions. The syllabus runs from beginner level (kite control, body dragging, first board starts) to advanced skills (light-wind riding, first jumps, foil, strapless); the school reckons on three to four lessons to reach the first rides.
Wing foil lessons start in shallow water and then move to open water in the middle of the lagoon, using the boat to reach the area best suited to the day’s wind. The school also offers a boat-towed foil simulator, video feedback, supervised riding for those who can relaunch and ride upwind, and equipment rental. Lesson equipment, including wetsuits, booties, helmets and buoyancy vests, is provided.
