Ocean Tribe Watersport

Ocean Tribe Watersport is a windsurf school based in Alghero since 2002. It was founded by Giampy and Paola, who had worked for years in tourist resorts abroad, and their daughter Alice has joined them. The school is recognised by the international VDWS federation, which allows it to issue the international licence after a theory and practical exam; the founder is a VDWS windsurf and SUP instructor and also a FIV windsurf instructor.

The base is at Camping La Mariposa, between the Lido beach and the Maria Pia pine wood, in the large sheltered bay of Alghero. The fine, gently sloping sand makes it suited, according to the school, to children's lessons. Windsurf courses (beginner, advanced and juniors aged 8 to 14) start on a simulator; they are taught in Italian, English and French, in groups of at most 4 to 5, and the 10-hour course includes the VDWS licence.

The centre also offers stand up paddle lessons and excursions (to the Maddalenetta lighthouse), rental of windsurf, SUP and kayak equipment, and a storage service (rimessaggio) for customers' gear. The rental fleet includes Tabou, Fanatic and Tahe boards, VDWS by GA Sails sails and Loftsails rigs. The 2026 season opening is announced for 4 April.
