Altitude 1004 – Vallée de Joux

Altitude 1004 is a watersports centre on the shore of Lac de Joux, in the Vallée de Joux (canton of Vaud, Switzerland), at Les Bioux. It teaches windsurfing, wingfoiling and sailing and rents watersports gear on a lake sitting more than 1,000 metres above sea level.

Lessons. The centre gives windsurfing, wingfoil and dinghy sailing lessons (catamaran and Laser). Wingfoiling is taught in three steps: getting used to the wing on a stable board without a foil, then foil-only riding towed by a motorboat to work on balance, then wingfoiling with the wing alone. For sailing, beginners who are unsure are accompanied by an instructor for a few dozen minutes before sailing on their own.

Rentals. Wingfoil (wing only on a stable board, or the full kit with helmet, vest and wetsuit), windsurf boards, paddles, canoes and kayaks, pedal boats, rowing boats, sailing boats and a motorboat.

Camps and services. Multisport Wednesdays are offered during the summer school holidays for ages 9 to 16 (watersports, trampoline, table tennis, pétanque, lunch prepared on site). The website also mentions a snack bar, a camping area, parking and memberships.
