Description
Kallvik Surf ry describes itself as Finland's largest surf association, with about 200 members. Founded in 1985 by surfers from eastern Helsinki, it has its main centre on the Kallahdenniemi headland in Helsinki and a second base at Silversand in Hanko, mostly at weekends and during holidays.
Members can try and use the association's equipment and get advice on using it properly and safely. The club practises windsurfing, kiteboarding, SUP, snowboarding and other winter sports. It organises beginner courses in windsurfing, kiteboarding (with IKO level 2 instructors, including an English speaker) and SUP.
Around Kallahdenniemi, the open water of Kallahti and the Iso Kallahti bay offer good conditions; winds from northwest to northeast do not suit this beach. Sea outings are always made in a group. The annual meeting is held on site in spring, with a clean-up of the beach.
