Description
Surfing ry is a windsurfing club based in Haukilahti, in the city of Espoo, west of Helsinki. Founded in 1979, it is one of Finland's oldest windsurfing clubs and remains very active, with about 170 members. The club's beach and storage containers are in Mellsten, next to the Toppelund day-care centre, facing the Miessaarenselkä wave area where people have been windsurfing since the 1970s.
Every summer, from May to September, the club runs beginner and advanced courses open to everyone, in small groups of 3 to 5 people lasting about 2.5 hours, with all equipment provided. Members have shared boards at their disposal and can reserve a storage spot in the containers.
