The Kitesurf Club Schweiz (KSCS) is the national association of Swiss kitesurfers. Set up under the Swiss Civil Code with its seat in Zug, it is non-profit and run by a volunteer committee chaired by Philipp Knecht; its current statutes date from September 2020. The association points out that kitesurfing was banned in Switzerland until fairly recently and that it campaigned successfully for its legalisation.
The association is the first point of contact for the authorities on kitesurfing: it works with the cantons to define local rules, campaigns for the creation and upkeep of kite zones on Swiss lakes, promotes safety at the spots and supports regional groups defending kiters' interests. It publishes a code of conduct, maintains a guide to Swiss spots and their rules on its website, supports young riders in international competition and backs events such as the Swiss championships and King of the Lake.
Membership includes kite third-party liability insurance, a discount on the Swiss Sailing licence from the Swiss Kitesailing Association (the competition federation, a separate body), the BOARDS magazine and access to WhatsApp and Telegram chat groups. The annual general meeting, open to guests, has recently been held at Marina Lachen on Lake Zurich (canton of Schwyz).
