LUTA Surftoys, kitesurf craftsman in Saint-Jean-de-Luz
Saint-Jean-de-Luz · Nouvelle-Aquitaine · France
About the craftsman
LUTA Surftoys is Yann's workshop in Saint-Jean-de-Luz in the Basque Country. The adventure began in 2010 when he found a longboard nose in a bin on his way out of the water and turned it into a mini simmons; he then shaped his own boards, then his friends', and the passion became a profession. The workshop is on chemin de Jaureguia.
The shaper designs 100% custom surfboards and foil boards in EPS/epoxy. He stands for board durability, with about 80% of materials of French origin (EPS foam, fibre, resin), and shapes often at the edge of the industry (asymmetric, micro-boards, neo-retro) while listening to the customer.
The range covers alternative and asymmetric boards, longboards and guns, mid-lengths, shortboards, summer boards and fish, plus foil boards for downwind, surf foil and wing foil. The workshop also offers board repair and a programme of test boards and ambassadors. According to its Google listing it is open Monday to Friday, 9 am to 6:30 pm.
