Overview

Breaker Bay is a kitesurfing spot located at the entrance to Wellington Harbour, in the Wellington region, on the North Island of New Zealand. This bay is exposed to the powerful swells of Cook Strait and offers demanding wave conditions. The spot is at 32 metres altitude on the cliffs with access to the beach below. Prevailing winds come from the south and north. The spot is reserved for expert kitesurfers due to the powerful waves, strong currents at the harbour entrance and the surrounding rocky terrain. It is one of the most technical spots in Wellington.
