On the water
West side: very shallow calm waters, lagoon-style flat water — first 100 metres allow standing. Ideal for freestyle and learning. East side: depth increases rapidly, navigation channel at 20 m depth only 50 m from sandbar. More chop in northwest wind. Low tide: insufficient water level, need to walk far out.
Hazards
Boat and ferry traffic in the narrow channel between Borre Knob tip and Alrø (500 m). Sudden depth change on east side: from standing depth to 20 m in just 50 m. Low tide: insufficient depth for riding. Shallow bottom on west side — injury risk from falls at speed.
