Overview
Roiitika (Roitika) is a spot near Patras, on the south coast of the Gulf of Patras, in northwestern Peloponnese. The Gulf of Patras is a semi-enclosed body of water connecting the Ionian Sea to the Gulf of Corinth, creating a natural wind corridor.
The spot benefits from channeled wind in the gulf, mainly from NW, blowing regularly in summer. The proximity to Patras (Greece's 3rd largest city) makes this spot easily accessible and popular with local riders.

On the water
Gulf of Patras water, moderately protected. Short chop of 20-50cm in moderate NW. Sandy bottom with pebbles in places. Clean, warm water (23-27°C in summer). Fetch limited by the gulf width (15-20 km).
Parking
Parking along the coastal road between Patras and Kato Achaia. Beach accessible from the national road. Patras 10-15 min away offers all services (airport, ferry port to Italy, hotels, restaurants). The Rio-Antirrio bridge is nearby.
Wind specificities
NW wind is channeled in the Gulf of Patras, creating a Venturi effect between the Peloponnese and mainland Greece (Aetolia-Acarnania) coasts. Typical strength: 12-20 knots, gusting to 25 knots on strong Maestro days. Wind is steadier and more sustained than in open sea thanks to the channeling effect.
W/WSW thermal breeze on calm days. The Gulf of Patras is the "funnel" between the Ionian Sea and the Gulf of Corinth.
Hazards
Heavy maritime traffic in the Gulf of Patras (international ferries, cargo ships, cruise ships). Stay clear of shipping lanes. Currents in the gulf, especially near the Rio-Antirrio strait. Sharp pebbles on some parts of the beach.
