Technical details of Swartriet spot
The spot works with winds from SE, SSE, S, SSW.
Spot functioning
Works in strong SE, S and SSE from October to March. The spot requires sustained wind as the offshore component in standard SE pushes you away from shore. Best with S or SSE which arrives more side-shore. Waves 1 to 3m depending on swell.

On the water
Ocean waves on sand and rock bottom. Swell 1 to 3m. Cold water (12-16°C), 4/3 to 5/3 wetsuit needed. Significant current and swell.
Parking
Access via dirt road. Parking on sand. Isolated area — leave nothing in your vehicle.
Wind specificities
The SE (Cape Doctor) arrives side-offshore to offshore on this west-facing coast. S and SSE are more favorable (side-shore). In strong SE (25+ knots), the wind is usable despite the offshore component. Watch for wind pushing you out to sea.
Hazards
Offshore wind in SE: danger of being carried out to sea. Powerful swell. Current. Rocks. Isolated area with no quick rescue. Cold water. Ride in groups only.
