The Alperstedter See is a lake located near Erfurt, the capital of Thuringia. This former gravel pit lake offers a body of water well exposed to prevailing winds, making it a popular spot for kitesurfing and wingfoiling in the region. Thermal winds from the west and southwest blow regularly in summer.Easily accessible from Erfurt, the Alperstedter See is a favorite spot for Thuringian kitesurfers. The lake offers sufficient surface area for comfortable riding and wind conditions are often favorable during summer days. A good spot for intermediate riders.
