Maurach Süd is a kitesurf spot on Achensee, Tyrol's largest lake, at 926 m altitude. Achensee is known for its very reliable northerly thermal wind in summer, which typically picks up around noon and blows until late afternoon. The lake is deep (max 133 m) with crystal clear but cold water (max 20°C in summer). The setting is spectacular between the Karwendel and Rofan mountain ranges. Maurach is located at the southern end of the lake.
