Rutland Water is a large reservoir in the Midlands, with the Rutland Watersports Centre at Whitwell (north) and Rutland Sailing Club to the south. Windsurfing, sailing and winging are practised there, from beginners to intermediates. Guides contradict each other on wind directions (west-north-west, south, east, depending on the source; north is poor), and the windsurfing guide is about fifteen years old.
