Overview

Howrah is a kitesurfing spot located east of Hobart in Tasmania, on the east shore of the Derwent estuary. This residential area offers easy beach access for kitesurfing in the estuary waters. The prevailing wind comes from the northwest to west in summer. The estuary offers relatively calm and sheltered conditions. The water is shallow with a sandy bottom. The best season is from November to March. The spot is suitable for beginners and intermediates. The water is cold, a thick wetsuit is required. Street parking in residential streets. It is a convenient urban spot for quick sessions.
