On the water

Flat water on Mobile Bay — ideal conditions for learning and freestyle. Shallow depth along the eastern shore. Sandy bottom. The bay is vast and offers plenty of riding space. Good conditions in all wind directions thanks to the bay's size. Light tidal current. Water is warm in summer.

Hazards

Pier proximity — ride at a distance from the structure. Stingrays frequent. Jellyfish in summer. Maritime traffic on the bay. Violent afternoon thunderstorms frequent in summer with lightning. Alligators possible in nearby marshy areas (but rare in open bay areas).
