Overview
Gjøl is located on the southern shore of Nibe Bredning, a wide and shallow section of the Limfjord, east of Aalborg airport. Nicknamed "Little Cold Hawaii" by local Aalborg surfers, it is a recognized intermediate spot in the Limfjord, referenced on kiteforum.com and unplug-kitesurf.com.
The Limfjord water offers protected conditions with good wind potential. 3,164 kiteable hours/year. Popular spot with the Aalborg kite community.

Wind specificities
Frontal wind, variable. Best in autumn and spring, lighter in summer. The Limfjord channels winds. Windiest months are June (540h), July (535h) and May (513h). Prevailing west to northwest winds.
Hazards
Nibe Bredning and Gjøl Bredning are wildlife reserves - kitesurfing is prohibited in areas where board sailing is not allowed. Bird protection zones must be strictly respected. Check local restrictions before sailing.
