Overview

Tateyama is a kitesurfing spot located at the southern tip of the Boso Peninsula, Chiba Prefecture. This strategic position at the entrance to Tokyo Bay provides exposure to southwest winds in summer (thermal breezes) and northeast winds in winter. Tateyama is one of the most popular spots in the Chiba area, offering varied conditions depending on the season.

The seaside town of Tateyama is known for its clear water and sandy beaches. The spot offers conditions suited for intermediate riders, with water that can get choppy in strong wind due to Pacific exposure. Tides are significant and strongly influence the spot's usability.

Tateyama is accessible from Tokyo in about 2 hours by express train or by road via the Aqua-Line. The town offers good tourist infrastructure with accommodations, fresh seafood restaurants, and various water sports activities.
