East Shoal Lake is a spot on the east shore of Shoal Lake, in Manitoba's Interlake region. This small lake connected to the watershed between Lake Winnipeg and Lake Manitoba offers perfect conditions for beginners: very shallow waters, flat bottom and 360° wind exposure on the prairies. The Interlake region benefits from consistent winds channeled between Manitoba's two great lakes.

Very shallow prairie lake. Flat to slightly choppy water. Flat sandy/muddy bottom allowing standing far from shore. Ideal conditions for learning and progression. Minimal chop even in strong wind thanks to shallow depth.
Hazards
Muddy bottom that can trap feet. Violent and rapid prairie thunderstorms in summer. Cold water in spring and fall. Algae possible in late summer. Rural area remote from emergency services. Abundant mosquitoes.
