Elands Bay is a remote West Coast village, about 250km north of Cape Town. It's one of South Africa's most renowned surf spots, with a world-class left-hander that works in SW swell. For kiting, conditions are wild and exposed with powerful Atlantic swell. The village is tiny and authentic, far from everything. San rock paintings can be found in nearby caves.

Works in strong SE, S and SSW. SW swell creates the famous surf left-hander. For kiting, S side-shore is ideal. In standard SE, wind is offshore — experts only. Wind season runs October to March.

Big waves — Elands Bay left is one of the country's best. Swell 1 to 3m+. Sand and rock bottom. Cold water (12-15°C), 4/3 to 5/3 wetsuit mandatory. Strong current.
Parking in Elands Bay village. Very quiet and safe rural area.
The SE (Cape Doctor) is offshore on this west-facing coast. S and SSW are side-shore, more favorable for kiting. In summer, SE can be very strong (25-40 knots) and create extreme conditions. The offshore component makes kiting technical and dangerous in standard SE.
Offshore wind: major danger of being carried out to sea. Powerful swell. Strong current. Rocks. Very cold water. Remote village — rescue services far away. Sharks. Surf localism — respect the lineup.
