It's the departure point for the ferry to Ocracoke Island (2h15 crossing). The spot offers access to Core Sound / Pamlico Sound waters. Cedar Island is a wild and undeveloped area, part of Cedar Island National Wildlife Refuge. The water is flat and conditions are good for kitesurfing, but the spot is intermediate due to its isolation and possible tidal currents.
