This beach resort town offers a vast sandy beach exposed to the open ocean with consistent wind conditions. The spot features a wide rideable beach area at low tide. Prevailing southwest to northwest winds provide side to side-onshore conditions. Wild coastal landscape typical of the Pacific Northwest.

Pacific Ocean with cold water (9-13°C/48-55°F) requiring a 4/3 to 5/4mm wetsuit with hood and gloves in winter. Significant waves and swell on this exposed coast. Shore break can be powerful. Sandy sloping bottom. Strong tidal currents near the Grays Harbor entrance — avoid that area.

Hazards

Cold Pacific Ocean — hypothermia risk. Sneaker waves can surprise on the beach. Frequent rip currents. Very strong tidal currents at Grays Harbor entrance — life-threatening danger. Driftwood and debris on the beach. Coastal fog can reduce visibility quickly. Vehicles allowed on the beach — watch out when rigging.
