On the water
Cold water year-round (10-14°C), 4/3 wetsuit essential in summer, 5/3 with hood and gloves recommended in winter. Waves can reach 1 to 2 meters with significant rip currents. The bottom is sandy with some rocks near Proposal Rock. North Pacific swell generates powerful sets, and conditions can change rapidly with the tide.
Hazards
Sneaker waves: unpredictable rogue waves that can sweep riders off the beach. Powerful rip currents, especially on outgoing tide. Massive driftwood on the beach, dangerous in case of collision. Rocks around Proposal Rock to avoid. Very cold water that can cause rapid hypothermia. Isolated spot with limited rescue nearby. Never ride alone.
