Overview
This small fishing village in the state of Piauí, located about 5 hours by car from Fortaleza, has been establishing itself over the years as one of the very best spots in the country. And for good reason! In a single session, it's possible to ride on completely flat water, in lagoons that form with the shifting sandbanks, head out to sea to surf some small waves, explore the mangrove and jump over vegetation, then launch into an easy upwind to reach the neighboring village, Barra Grande, have a drink there, and finally return downwind to your starting point, on a spot whose configuration has been completely transformed by the changing tide... All carried by strong and stable wind, between 25 and 35 knots side-on shore, in water around 30 degrees. Paradise? It's possible...
Moreover, here, the relationship between locals and tourists is excellent. No tension on the spot, quite the contrary. The locals, in addition to putting on a show on the water, are always attentive and ready to rescue a kiter in difficulty.
The village is still very peaceful, even if year after year, the number of kiters increases and with it the number of accommodation options, restaurants and small shops. But we are still very far from the overcrowded and hyper-touristic village that other spots can be. It's actually quite the opposite.
For accommodation or food, the Kiterinha pousada and its Swiss owner will be delighted to welcome you in a relaxed and resolutely kite-oriented atmosphere, just a few meters from the beach. The perfect place to relive your session over a drink, before a good night's sleep and an early wake-up so as not to miss the pre-breakfast session...
In conclusion, Praia de Macapa is a must-visit destination for kite lovers wishing to discover the real Brazil and who will find there a concentration of the best the country can offer in terms of riding conditions and hospitality.

The spot is open all the time. There is a forbidden zone, right in front of the beach bars where swimmers are found, generally on weekends. The goal is to coexist safely; the swimmers' area is infinitely smaller than the space available to you for riding.

Parking
It's easy to park near the spot, either in the parking lot of one of the beach bars, or along the road; here, there's no risk of getting a ticket, guaranteed. However, if you're staying in the village, you won't need to take the car to get to the spot, your flip-flops are enough in most cases. This obviously depends on the location of your accommodation.
Wind specificities
The wind blows from late July to mid-January, but the best months are September, October, and November. In September, there are fewer people and you might have the spot almost entirely to yourself, depending on the time.
The wind is strong and stable, generally between 25 and 30 knots. Its direction is ideal, side-on shore.
It tends to be a bit less strong in the early morning, gradually increasing throughout the day, with its peak around sunset. It is therefore possible to have several sessions per day. For example, a magnificent morning session to start the day and a sunset session to end it beautifully.
Hazards
There aren't really any particular dangers on this spot, except for some easily identifiable rocks at the river mouth and its current when the tide comes in. You just need to avoid riding in that part of the spot at that time of day.
On land, there's no problem setting up or landing your kite, there's plenty of space. It's also not an issue to leave your pump on the beach, the atmosphere is excellent and it will still be there when you return.
