The Spit, Grand Marais kitesurf spot
Canada · Manitoba
Overview
The Spit at Grand Marais is a sand spit on the east shore of Lake Winnipeg, north of the Grand Marais beach resort. This east coast spot benefits from western exposure, catching the prevailing west and northwest winds that cross the entire south basin of the lake (30-50 km fetch). The sand spit creates a protected area on one side, offering varied conditions depending on which side you choose. Grand Marais is a popular summer destination for Winnipeggers.
