Overview

Steep Rock Cliffs is a spot at the base of the spectacular white limestone cliffs on the west shore of Lake Manitoba. These cliffs, remnants of an ancient seabed, rise over 10 m above the lake and provide a unique backdrop for kitesurfing. The spot is exposed to east winds crossing Lake Manitoba. Riding along the cliffs in breathtaking scenery. Reserved for experienced riders due to the proximity of cliffs and rocks.

Lake Manitoba water at the base of limestone cliffs. Clear water with rocky limestone bottom. Variable depth — watch for submerged rocks. Chop reflected by cliffs can create complex conditions. Over 50 km easterly fetch.

Hazards

Limestone cliffs and submerged rocks — major hazard in case of falls or drift. Turbulent winds and gusts due to cliff effects. Area reserved for experienced riders. No easy shore access along the cliffs. Violent thunderstorms in summer.
