El Porto Surf Shop is a surf shop in Manhattan Beach's El Porto neighborhood, about 770 feet from what it calls the most consistent break in Los Angeles County. It is eleven minutes from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The website says the shop has been at this location since 1963 and shares its building with Player's Liquor, hence its long opening hours.
It sells boards, wetsuits, leashes, fins and repair supplies, plus its own Porto Surf Wear clothing line. It rents soft-top and fiberglass boards, bodyboards and wetsuits, and offers board repair.
It also teaches surf lessons, private or in small groups. Its instructors are CPR certified, licensed and insured, and owner Pack Landfair has completed the International Surf Association Level 1 instructor course. The shop is also known for its First Thursday parties and its live wave cam.
