Prof de Surf

Prof de Surf is the school of Didier Vallero, founder, state-qualified surf instructor and surf guide in Saint-Jean-de-Luz (11 rue Tourasse). The current website, profdesurf.fr, replaced the former address profdesurf.com, which was hacked; the school has existed, in its own words, for many years, and its Google listing shows a 5 out of 5 rating over 41 reviews, the most recent from October 2025.

It offers individual or small-group lessons, from discovery to improvement, for ages 7 to 77, with several packages. Lessons are scheduled according to the tides and cover, among other things, the take-off, the bottom turn and the roller, with demonstrations. The price of a lesson includes the loan of a wetsuit and a board. The school says it is open to everyone, including LGBTQIA+ people and people on the autism spectrum.

Lessons take place every day depending on waves and tides, on the beaches of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, Anglet, Biarritz, Bidart, Guéthary and Hendaye. Activity is usual from June to September, with possible requests outside the season.
