School Presentation
Watermansport Surfschool is a surf and stand up paddle school on the Plage Sud in Hossegor (place du Point d'Or). It is linked to Watermansport Coaching, active since 2012 and presented as the first European structure to prepare athletes for extreme surfing. The surf school opened in 2019; it is run by David Dubes, and Thierry Krawiec is head of the swimming school.
Group and private lessons last 2 hours (1h30 in the water, equipment included), for "ages 7 to 77" and all levels, with instructors forming groups by level. Added to these are the "Jardin des Vagues" (1 hour with an instructor), holiday courses (for example Easter 2026), offers for groups and works councils, the Oceankid's / Mini Sauveteur coastal rescue course and a swimming school (sports swimming course for ages 10-15).
Instructors hold the state surf diploma, the PSE1 first-aid qualification and a professional card; both managers also hold a state swimming diploma and first-aid and lifesaving trainer qualifications. The school has a wide fleet of epoxy boards covered in foam, with 4/3 wetsuits in April-May and 3/2 from June, and booties.
Beach lessons run from April to October, 9am-7pm in July-August.
