G-Cool Surf Club

G-Cool Surf Club is a surf school and shop that has operated since 2006 on the beach by the north breakwater of Wushih Harbor in Toucheng, Yilan County, on Taiwan's north-east coast. It is run by a couple from the local village, who are also board members of the community development association.

The school offers beginner surf lessons (one-to-one, for two people or in groups), a two-day, one-night surf trip and lessons for more advanced surfers. Beginners practise in the shallow inside zone, with no more than four students per instructor.

You can also rent boards (first-timers get a short briefing and a try on a surf simulator), leave your board with the club through a storage membership, buy gear in the shop and use the rinse showers. The club also runs a summer camp for children and recommends accommodation nearby.

Low season (November to March): 8am to 4pm.
April: weekdays 7am to 4pm, weekends and public holidays 7am to 5pm.
May: weekdays 7am to 5pm, weekends and public holidays 6am to 6pm.
October: weekdays 7am to 4pm, weekends and public holidays 6am to 5pm.
High season (June to September): every day 5am to 7pm.
