Tawi Kite Center

Tawi Kite Center is a kitesurf and wing foil centre with an attached hostel, located on the beach at Cabo de la Vela in the La Guajira desert. It sits on the right-hand side of the designated kite zone, with steady side-offshore wind (advertised at around 25 knots on average) and warm, flat, shallow water.

Kitesurf lessons cover all levels, from beginners to experienced riders working on big air, freestyle or foil. Instructors are IKO certified and speak Spanish, English or German on request; they communicate with the student by headset. A rescue boat stands by on the water.

The centre also teaches wing foiling, from the first rides to tacks and jibes, with boat assistance. Equipment rental (new CORE kites and wing gear) is reserved for independent riders who can ride upwind (IKO level 3K for kiting).
