School Presentation

Real Kite, founded in 2000 and run by Daisuke Kaneko, describes itself as the first kiteboarding shop in Japan. The store is in Makuhari, Chiba city, about eight minutes' walk from Makuhari station and half an hour from Tokyo. It sells new gear and second-hand gear on consignment, repairs kites and boards, and runs courses and trips.

The school is recognised by the Japan Kiteboarding Association (JKBA). Its instructors, A-level and certified pros since 2002, teach small groups with gear matched to each student. Courses range from a taster session to advanced levels: a multi-day master course, progression lessons and private coaching. The school also offers foil and stand up paddle lessons, including paddle surfing.

Lessons take place on the Kujukuri beaches, at Motosuka and, in summer during the swimming season, at Komatsu: wide, shallow sand beaches with no obstacles. According to the website, a beach house serves as a clubhouse near the sea.
