School Presentation
Saltwater Dreaming has been teaching surfing in Phuket since 2002. It was founded by Rick Gamble, an Australian who has surfed since the early 1970s and settled in Phuket, where he also opened a surf shop. Instruction is NSSIA-certified.
Most lessons take place at Bang Tao Beach, near the southern end next to the Best Western Bang Tao Beach Resort, a well-known spot for beginners with small waves and shallow water. The meeting point is confirmed with each client at booking. The shop is in Surin: that is where to go to rent equipment or pay by card.
The school offers small-group lessons (two to three students per instructor), private lessons with the head instructor, custom lessons to improve, and paddleboarding. Boards are included in lessons; the shop also rents surfboards, paddleboards, bodyboards and fins.

The surf season in Phuket usually runs from April to September; outside it, the sea is often flat. Lessons last 2 hours.
