Hibiscus Surf School

Hibiscus Surf School is a Mount Maunganui surf school that started in spring 2004. It teaches at Main Beach, across from Moturiki Island, and at Tay Street, to students from 4 to 74 years old.

The programme includes 2-hour group lessons, one-on-one private lessons, 1.5-hour kids and family lessons, 5-week programmes (sunrise, sunset, or women-only), an after-school programme, school holiday camps, school and corporate groups, and adaptive surfing.

Most instructors hold a Surfing NZ qualification and are trained in ocean and beach safety. The school also hires beginner and performance surfboards, wetsuits, kayaks, stand-up paddleboards and a few bodyboards.

Every day 9 am to 5.30 pm in summer; by appointment in spring, autumn and winter.
