KitesurfNZ - Wellington Kitesurf Academy

KitesurfNZ, also known as Wellington Kitesurf Academy, is a kitesurf school based in Paraparaumu on the Kapiti Coast, about 45 minutes from Wellington's city centre. It presents itself as the fully registered kitesurf academy of the area.

Lessons take place at Waikanae Beach, meeting at the beach car park. Students are messaged when wind and time slots allow; the school books at most two students per instructor and kite. All gear is supplied (wetsuits, Ozone Catalyst kites, harnesses). A full course is three two-hour sessions, which can be completed over three consecutive days if the wind allows, or spread over two years. Land-based kite flying sessions are also available.

The shop sells new and used kitesurf gear: kites, boards, foils, harnesses, wetsuits, impact vests and helmets, including Ozone, Mystic and Axis. Items not in stock can often be ordered overnight.

Lessons possible every day of the year depending on wind, mostly weekends and some afternoons. Wind needed: about 12 knots from the north or north-west for the first session, 14 to 25 knots for the next ones.
