The spot is at the mouth of the Waikanae River, offering a mix of estuary and ocean beach conditions facing the Tasman Sea and Kapiti Island. The prevailing winds come from the northwest, west and south. The spot is suitable for intermediate kitesurfers. The estuary offers calmer waters for relaxed sessions, while the ocean beach provides more challenging conditions. It is a popular spot on the Kapiti Coast.
