Telstar Surfschool

Telstar Surfschool is the watersports school at Strand Horst on the Wolderwijd, between Ermelo and Harderwijk, right next to the A28. It teaches windsurfing, kitesurfing, wingfoiling and SUP on flat, shallow water that suits beginners.

Instructors are recognised by CWO and VDWS. Windsurf lessons are open from age 8 (from 6 for private lessons), wingfoil courses run in groups of no more than four, and kitesurfing runs from first lessons up to supervised practice (Ready to Ride, Ticket to Ride). Equipment is included in lessons and the school says its fleet counts 140 boards, 170 sails, 50 kite sets and 25 SUPs; the wingfoil gear is Duotone.

Windsurf, kite, wing and SUP gear can also be rented, with a 15-hour card or an annual pass on offer, and children can join a five-day windsurf camp (ages 8-12 and 13-17, day camp without overnight stay). The school also welcomes groups, school classes and companies. It is linked to the neighbouring Telstar Surf shop.

Windsurf lessons from April to October; closed from November to March (online booking possible all year). Rental: April, Saturday-Sunday 10am-5pm; May, Wednesday-Sunday 10am-5pm; June, Wednesday-Sunday 10am-6pm; July-August, daily 10am-7pm; September and October mainly at weekends. Hours shown for the 2026 season, weather permitting.
