Plankenverleih Heiligenhafen (Bretterbude)

The Plankenverleih ("board rental") sits on the grounds of the Bretterbude hotel in Heiligenhafen, on the Baltic Sea. It rents kite gear and stand up paddle boards at a low price, and also offers kitesurf and SUP lessons.

The rental containers stand right at the spot: you rig up outside the door and are on the water in a minute. The spot has a fairly large stand-up area that helps progressing riders. The school offers introductory courses and private lessons. Renting a kite requires a VDWS kite licence level 3 or IKO level 2i; a trainer kite can also be borrowed.
