SOOK Surf School

SOOK Surf School, also known as Surf Tanger, is a surf school and surf shop based in the Dradeb district of Tangier. It presents itself as the pioneer of surfing in northern Morocco and states that it is affiliated to the Royal Moroccan Surfing and Bodyboarding Federation.

The school follows the seasons and moves beaches accordingly. In winter, sessions are held at Plage Sol, in Achakar, at weekends and on Wednesday afternoons. In summer it moves to Ba Kacem, Sidi Mghait and Briech, daily whenever the ocean allows, and its Instagram account adds the Houara area. Sessions last an hour and a half and take children from the age of seven, conditions permitting. Equipment is provided: wetsuit, surfboard, foam board, bodyboard and fins.

Beyond surfing, the school also offers bodyboarding and longboarding, plus paddle and kayak outings on the channel, run by multilingual instructors who arrange taxi pick-ups for groups.

Two sessions a day, 10.30 am to 12 noon and 1 pm to 2.30 pm, which can be moved on request or according to the tides. In winter, lessons run at weekends and on Wednesday afternoons at Plage Sol (Achakar); in summer, daily at Ba Kacem, Sidi Mghait and Briech, depending on the state of the ocean.
