Surfschule Norderney
Am Hansendamm, 26548 Norderney · Niedersachsen · Germany
School Presentation
Surfschule Norderney is a large water sports centre on the south coast of the North Sea island of Norderney, in a flat, nearly enclosed, standing-depth bay without waves. This very sheltered water suits children, teenagers and families; more experienced riders also find, outside the wind shadow, conditions for fun boards and freestyle. The school describes itself as Germany's largest windsurf school.
It teaches windsurfing (children 6 to 12, teenagers from 13, adults, family courses), windsurf foiling, wing foiling, kitesurfing, wave surfing, stand up paddling and "Mega SUP", as well as kayaking. The fleet includes 170 windsurf boards, 170 school sails, 35 fun boards, 25 SUPs, 20 kayaks, 20 surfboards and 7 Duotone foil boards and wings, set up on a 2,000 m² stretch of beach with two wooden stilt huts. It also hosts school classes, holiday camps, groups and company events, and offers equipment rental and storage.
The spot is usable for about six hours around high tide, so opening hours follow the tide. The station is open from 15 March to mid-October; it has been in winter break since 9 October 2026 and reopens on 15 March 2027.
