Windsurf Centar Crveni otok ("Red Island", Sveti Andrija) is located on the island opposite Rovinj. The website says it was established in the 1970s, is one of the first windsurf centres in Croatia and has been a gathering place for windsurfers from all over Europe. Lessons take place in a small, safe bay right in front of the school.
Lessons are given in Croatian, English, Russian, Italian and German: a 2-hour trial course, beginner courses of 4 or 8 hours (group or individual, from age 6, with light equipment adapted for children), a 5-hour advanced course (maestral wind, upwind sailing and jibing between the islets) and the option to take the VDWS licence exam for an extra fee. Each course starts on a land simulator.
The centre also rents windsurf gear, SUPs and kayaks and runs guided sunset kayak tours from Sveti Andrija island. Combo packages (lessons + rentals) are offered.
